Accumulator Picks of the Weekend!

This week I’m going to be looking at the weekends game and picking out the bankers and the value adders to stick in your accumulators and a quick section on accumulator strategy.

We all know from experience that accumulators are a hard beast to tame. Long odds are the tempters that usually see most punters go for many folds. One of my friends thought he’d get every result right on a saturday last year… scratching my head in disbelief I watched him throw his money away, all that before I changed tact myself.

My strategy is to look at the form, pick the teams that are on a good run (Spurs as much as it pains me to say… or Charlton) or the opponents of teams on a bad run (daggers at the moment being a prime example). Still sticking these in a multi legged accumulator is hardly ever going to pay off. You’ll be much better off to pick the best of what you’ve researched, include few games but increase your stake. These days you’ll rarely find me putting more than 4 teams in an accumulator. Another great way of maximising the use of an accumulator is to pick games that run on different days. For example, this weekend you could couple up Spurs, Arsenal and Man City is a 3 fold… come Monday afternoon when two legs out of three are completed and just the City game remains you can work out your winnings if it comes in and lay it either in-play or pre-game to lock in a profit (to do this you need to be signed up to Betfair or BetDaq). Obviously the trick is here to pick games on day 1 that simply boost the odds for the day 2 game, but are most likely to happen… its no use having an outside chance good value game on day 1 on the off chance it will come in.

A good way to look at the fixtures when deciding on the teams to back is without odds attached. As you pick a result, decide what odds you think are fair. When you go to make your multiples up,check the odds against your estimations and discount any teams that are priced shorter than your estimations.

My Bankers or Value adders
Newcastle to win at Norwich.... Norwich are leaking goals and haven’t kept a clean sheet all season in the prem while Newcastle  were unlucky against Chelsea with decisions and have Ba in great form. (2.9).

Tottenham to win at Stoke... Stoke have been consistently inconsistent and mutterings of discontempt   in the camp won’t help. Spurs travel in scintillating form and win this game more than the 1 in 2 price offered. (2.0).

Barnsley to beat Ipswich... Having won their last 4 Barnsley will be feeling good and looking up the table while ipswich have lost 8 on the bounce and are sinking rapidly and must be low on confidence. (1.98).

West ham away to Reading... West Ham have the best away record in the league and will want to get back to winning ways after last weeks slip up. Readings recent wins came to poor Ipswich and Posh. (2.72). Odds are too long for a team of Wet Shams quality.

Charlton away at Walsall... Charlton have won their last 8 games and it seems like there’s no stopping them as they’ve been banging in the goals too scoring 24 in those wins. Beings away boosts the odds but it’s all the same to the Addicks. Walsall lost their last 3 at home vs poorer teams than this. (1.77).

Shrewsbury to win at Aldershot...Shrewsbury sit top of the form table in league 2 and haven’t lost in 8 games in all competitions. Aldershot have lost their last 3 in a row. (2.69).

Crewe to win at Northampton... Northampton are turning into the leagues whipping boy after getting beat 4-1 by the previous holders of that poisoned chalice (Plymouth). This is an ask for Crewe who aren’t great scorers but have won their last 2. (2.93).

Obviously its highly unlikely that all these picks will come in but what they all have in common is odds that I perceive to be great value considering the current form of the respective teams.
